Lanier Family Connection is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Promoting Safe and Stable Families grant from the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) for the eighth consecutive year. This grant will provide funding for FFY2024, with more than 165 proposals being received this year requesting over $11.5 million in federal funds.
"We are so excited to have been awarded this grant again," said Executive Director Amy Griffin. "It's a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team and demonstrates our commitment to providing quality services to families in our community."
The award decisions were based on an extensive compliance and qualitative proposal review conducted by an independent review team. Additional factors considered in determining award levels included local and regional distribution of funding, Divisional priorities, service needs, existing resources, FFY2023 contract performance, and program utilization. All award decisions are final.
SafeCare is a brief, evidence-based skills training program for caregivers of children under the age of 5 that focuses on three key outcomes: creating positive relationships between caregivers and their children; ensuring homes are safe to reduce the risk of child unintentional injury; and keeping children as healthy as possible. Providers work with caregivers to strengthen skills in areas such Parent Child Interaction, Safety, and Health.
"At Lanier Family Connection we believe that families should be empowered with knowledge on how best to care for their young children," said Griffin. "This grant allows us to continue providing valuable services that help create safe environments for all families."
Lanier Family Connection is dedicated to helping families reach their full potential through education, advocacy, support services, resources, counseling referrals, parenting classes/workshops, and more. We look forward to continuing our mission with this new grant!
